College of Biotechnology and Engineering in the UMS presents its master program of Science in Forensic Biotechnology, this unique specialty in the field of criminal investigation that aims to serve the community and protect the public. This field of study is also characterized by its relation to the forensic crime scenes and law enforcement.
Examination of different types of physical evidences such as body flUMSds, fingerprints and tire marks are practiced in the course along with the most recently advanced technology in DNA analysis which has been dramatically evolved to be the first assistant to decipher the complexities of crimes and detect the true doer of the action.
Master of Science in forensic biotechnology has been designed to meet the requirments of students who would like to develop their criminal investigative capabilities in its different sections; forensic investigations, law enforcement, collection of different types of evidences and reporting them to the court. This program also prepares the student to gain Forensic Science skills within a holistic crime scene framework
This program also covers different aspects of forensic science such as; forensic medicine, forensic psychology, entomology, pathology, dentistry, toxicology, criminal laboratories and criminal laws, which will help students to handle the whole criminal procedure from crime scene to the courtroom. Students will be also qualified in a variety of topics such as DNA analysis, Toxicology and trace evidence examination. Students will be taught how to testify in courts as an expert witness. All that will qualify the master’s holder to reach the highest positions in this field.

Preparatory course of Master of Science in Forensic Biotechnology:
Four preparatory courses, 3 hours each. These courses are compulsory for all new students who do not hold a bachelor degree in the same specialization or biotechnology. Additionally, students should pass these courses with a minimum average grade B.
Program structure and graduation requirments:
Students will be awarded the master degree after completing 39 credit hours divided into 13 subjects in four academic semesters. Each semester consists of 15 weeks including examination period as the following:
